The Art Presentations programme will also feature a performance by PERFORM Art Foundation in which artists work with a group of senior participants:
This is an organization whose work concentrates on promotion of performance art. The Foundation runs art projects that are socially desirable and foster the development of culture and art in Poland and abroad. Their art projects centre round multi-disciplinary activities encompassing dance, music, performance arts, theatre and the site-specific trend. Paulina Święcańska is the Chairman of the PERFORM Foundation.
The 2017 Programme is divided into two cycles: MORZE MOŻLIWOŚCI (THE VAST SEA OF OPPORTUNITY) and OKO CYKLONU (THE EYE OF THE CYCLONE)
THE VAST SEA OF OPPORTUNITY
The shows and events presented in this particular cycle will feature various techniques and varying approach to contemporary dance. The performances in this cycle will aim to present different treatment of the modern dance techniques, premieres, young artists’ first appearances in the sphere of contemporary dance art and performance art; also included are presentations by acclaimed, well-known artists who cooperate with the younger generation, and, last but not least, performances and installation art events for children.
THE EYE OF THE CYCLONE
A Centre of stormy events. A Centre of important matters. A Centre that can sometimes be dangerous, shocking, astounding. The performances presented in this cycle undertake vital problems in very many differing ways. The artists use improvisation, construct tension/expression by means of micro-movements, make use of performative tools, combine various dance styles and various spheres of the arts: dance/theatre/film/visual arts – they employ video materials, put up installations or act in an empty space. One special trait connects the whole of the work by our artists: it is like the eye of the cyclone – it takes up crucial dilemmas, rough ones, sometimes ominous, intense and ultimate but very well-known to us all.
THE VAST SEA OF OPPORTUNITY: “Constellations”/ Paulina Święcańska / Romuald Woźniak
Idea and choreography: Paulina Święcańska
Direction: Romuald Woźniak
Character creation: Aleksandra Osowicz, Paweł Konior, Małgorzata Czaban, Magdalena i Krzysztof Sztylińscy
The questions the artists ask themselves today are:
In which moment in life does one make choices, what choices, and why?
What is their influence on our life?
What would the situation be, if we were aware of our decisions today?
What could we become in a few years’ time?
Time and human nature?
Predictability and unpredictability of human decisions?
The idea of the performance is connected with complex human relations as regards choice of life partners and love.
To take part in this project some amateurs- senior citizens were invited who worked with the choreographer and dancer in Wrocław, on a scholarship granted by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. The intergenerational aspect of this project is immensely important because it stresses the meaning of the problem of time which is one of the vital themes analyzed in this project. At the initial phase of the concept, the artists concentrated on joint selection of artistic contexts as well as the system methods of work with relations – i.a. the family constellations by Bert Hellinger.
Such multi-layered approach to the theme is connected with the consciousness and time as regards human inter-relations. The choice and usage of props, costumes and stage design also plays an important role in the production of the project because of the meaning and visual character of such materials.
After the performance we invite you to a meeting with artists
