The 2017  Programme is divided into two cycles: MORZE MOŻLIWOŚCI (THE VAST SEA OF OPPORTUNITY) and OKO CYKLONU (THE EYE OF THE CYCLONE)

THE VAST SEA OF OPPORTUNITY

The shows and events presented in this particular cycle will feature various techniques and varying approach to contemporary dance. The performances in this cycle will aim to present different treatment of the modern dance techniques, premieres, young artists’ first appearances in the sphere of contemporary dance art and performance art; also included are presentations by acclaimed, well-known artists who cooperate with the younger generation, and, last but not least, performances and installation art events for children.

THE EYE OF THE CYCLONE

A Centre of stormy events. A Centre of important matters. A Centre  that can sometimes be dangerous, shocking, astounding. The performances presented in this cycle undertake vital problems in very many differing ways. The artists use improvisation, construct tension/expression by means of micro-movements, make use of performative tools, combine various dance styles and various spheres of the arts: dance/theatre/film/visual arts – they employ video materials, put up installations or act in an empty space. One special trait connects the whole of the work by our artists: it is like the eye of the cyclone – it takes up crucial  dilemmas, rough ones, sometimes ominous, intense and ultimate but very well-known to us all.

Recruitment to a one-way space mission taking people to Mars is underway. On board of a flight simulator there meet the candidates competing to participate in the programme. Tested are their psychological and emotional stability and physical endurance. The performance is of an interactive character. The audience can influence the choice of the candidates and the course of the spectacle.

“Solar Research 2.0” is an example of a new kind of dramaturgy based on movement and visual creation. The form is a combination of performance art, dance, physical  theatre and post dramatic theatre. This spectacle has come into existence in an experimental process of actors’ training, endurance tests juxtaposed with the actual dramaturgical situation. In the light of the present-day research,  a space mission to Mars is seen as a one-way and long term mission. As yet, we do not have access to technology that would allow bringing the astronauts  back Earth. Because of very high cost, space agencies, for instance, NASA or other private consortia such as Mars One or SpaceX, look for all sorts of various ways of financing: reality shows, private donations, collecting money from people who apply to take part.

The production of the spectacle is co-financed by the capital city of Warsaw and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage as part of the of “Young Solarists” project.

The spectacle is a result of a research project on improvisation run with the WTT students.

It is a performance art spectacle which poses questions and implies answers; it is the one in which attention, following the events, plays a decisive role in the process of embodiment and presence.

It is constructed around the familiar states of comfort and discomfort, as well as around that which is completely unknown and new.

We share the experiences of the body, confront each other, we negotiate the shape  and conditions of functioning, we construct.

We use presence that is made to react to internal and external events; we interact with the course of events that always want to be NOW, and always want to be fresh and simple.

Our seriousness and our jocosity

This spectacle poses a risk and we take that risk.

The SzurSure group invites to their site-specific performance art spectacle inspired by the space of the KADR Culture Club. “ We analyse, process and transform the space of the KADR place, taking inspiration from the geometry of the building, its history, functionality, energy and its special character. We follow the impulses of the body and create structures for dialogue with the spectators.

The following questions provided a point for departure in our search:

-how does the geometry of our bodies influence the reception of the Kadr space?

– how does  the space change our movements and influence our activities?

-how does our experience of forming and being formed change? Of shaping  and deforming?

In our work we combine elements of movement improvisation, geometric choreography and physical theatre which we have used in the creation of this performance art spectacle”.

The SzurSure Performative Group – is a performative team that explores improvised dance based on modern dance technique, contact improvisation, physical theatre, the butoh dance and other  movement and dance techniques. The team specializes in site-specific projects (inspired by architecture, history, culture and the special character of the given place). The group consists of 23 members, 18 of them being performers and 5  are artists from other spheres of the Arts (musicians, photographers).

In 1990 in the district of Ursynów in Warsaw there appears the first shop of a Swedish firm producing furniture and decorative articles. A year later Wojtek is born. In his reminiscences, there is not a trace of the Scandinavian dream in the Bacewiczówny  Street shop. To buy ice cream and hot dogs for I zloty, one has to travel to Janki, a small location outside Warsaw. A shopping centre is not just a place filled with objects which are the embodiment of dreams about affluence and high standards. It is  a playground, an enormous board game.

PAX is a system whose elements you can combine according to your own wish. PAX dances for the product. PAX works with serialization and multiplication. PAX means choreography of the interior. Nobody else can put it together for you.

The spectacle “Waiting for the Lawn” is a presentation from a border area of theatre and movement. Waiting for the rain, waiting for the lawn, for  the breeze which  will move my existence into the sphere of everyday life. I come every day and I watch every day how the pride of my heart grows. MY GRASS. How to divide one rain into three blades of grass? How to try to achieve my goal? Satisfaction guaranteed in the time of unemployment. Integration of the old buildings with the new dimension of architecture now clinging to concrete surfaces of incomprehension and a fascinating song of a pigeon buried in my garden, on my grass. I do not hurry anywhere, I remain motionless in time, I do not run with time. In general, we do not run together. I am standing here, waiting. No fireworks. All in all, sheer boredom.
